I have just finished the translation of the book below and to the left, Unsere Stunde Null, with a
tentative English title of Our Zero Hour. It was co-written by the founders of the Post-Holocaust
Dialogue Group, Abraham Peck and Gottfried Wagner. Peck is a historian and the son of Holocaust
survivors. Wagner, the great grandson of Richard Wagner, is the disaffected son of
Nazi-sympathizers. The two founded the group in 1992. The English version is currently circulating.
I have translated a number of smaller documents to English from Italian
(including novel excerpts and museum descriptions), from German
(including legal documents and instructions for a microscope), and from
Spanish (including personal letters, short stories, and advertising
brochures).
I have taught and tutored Spanish, German, and Italian at various
levels, including at Emerson Preparatory school in Washington D.C.,
where I taught Spanish to college-bound students.
I recently translated, at the request of the author, the autobiography of
an Italian-American born in Sicily. The author fought in World War II,
developed a number of patents, and traveled and lived throughout the
world.
I have served as an expert witness in a court case that involved
documents in German and Italian.
I am credited as the translator for
the film Haber, which has won the
L.A. Shorts Film Festival's "Best of
the Fest Award," qualifying it for
an Academy Award nomination.

I was translator and editor of That Time
Cannot Be Forgotten: A Correspondence
on the Holocaust (Indiana University
Press, 2002), a correspondence between a
Jewish refugee and a former Wehrmacht
physician, the original German of which is
in the Holocaust Museum in Washington,
D.C.
I was engaged by the correspondents to produce the translation,
which was nominated in 2003 for the Helen and Kurt Wolff
Translator’s Prize for Outstanding Translation from German
into English. I also served as editor of the book, providing
annotations, writing an introduction, and seeing it through the

I have also edited and translated The Wolves of World War II:
An East Prussian Soldier's Memoir of Combat and Captivity on
the Eastern Front. It is the moving story of Hans Thiel, an East
Prussian farmer who was drafted into the Volkssturm during the
last year of World War II despite his repeated attempts to
remain home and his disdain for the Hitler regime. I prepared
the manuscript for publication with an introduction, extensive
annotations, an epilogue, and various appendices. It was

Irma Fechenbach, a courageous and resourceful woman who
lived as a refugee from Hitler's Germany, supporting three young
children, after her husband Felix Fechenbach, an internationally
known writer and journalist, was murdered by the Nazis. My
translation is tentatively entitled A Wound That Never Heals: A
Mother's Odyssey from Nazi Germany to America. My English
translation, with a new foreword by one of Irma Fechenbach's
daughters, is currently circulating.
